Zvornik Lake
Zvornik Lake stretches 25km upstream from 45m high dam near Zvornik and Mali Zvornik. The lake area is 8.1 km2, its width is from 0.3 to 3km and maximum depth to 39m. About 90 million m3of water had been accumulated in this lake. Zvornik Lake is the first reservoir on the Drina. Preparation work on construction of the dam and ancillary facilities began in 1948, and the lake basin was filled with water in 1955. Zvornik Lake lies at 140m above sea level. The lake has ideal conditions for nautical tourism development. In the coastal part of Zvornik Lake there are small beaches, numerous weekend houses, several cafes and restaurants, and some of the activities tourists can do on the lake are kayaking, canoeing, sailing, fishing, swimming and relaxing. National Kayak and Canoe Championship in calm waters is held on this lake. It is possible to rent private accommodation near the lake.
