Roman quarry in Dardagan
This is an archaeological site located near Zvornik, in Dardagan, in the area of local community Cer. The site consists of an underground quarry from the period of time from 1st to 5thcentury AD, and two surface pits. It was the largest Roman quarry in the Balkans, and it is assumed that this is the largest and best-preserved cave type monument of Roman stone monuments in Europe. This is a very important site where Slovenian archaeologists discovered that the stone from this quarry was driven to Sirmium, one of the capitals of the Roman Empire. This archaeological site could have a significance for the entire cultural offer of RS. For now it is only possible to visit a surface mine pit, while in the very near future it is expected to draw project ideas for touristic adjustment of the underground part of the quarry.
